Default Torsen T2-R and new ABS exciter ring

I'm having trouble getting the new exciter ring on my new T2-R.
One guy said it was just a tight fit and I could hammer it on by carefully going around with the hammer and piece of wood.
Is that right or should I heat it or have it pressed on?
Thanks

Do you have a shop press? We had a hard time to, so we just got a press. We had bearings to do as well. But I had an old Torsen and the reluctor ring went on with a soft piece of wood and an lead filled impact hammer. But dont mess the thing up if it doesnt feel like its gonna fit.

Whoa hold up!!! That ring is like butter. Heat the ring with a propane torch, it'll expand and literally drop right on. When it cools it'll be lock tight.

Keep the torch moving, heat it evenly. You start pounding on that thing, or even trying to press it on, you won't be happy!!

Thanks Gainesville. It snowed here and I didn't get to the rear end this weekend.
Somebody else suggested using the oven to heat the ring evenly. I'll try that tonight and definitely won't hit it. The cast metal doesn't look like it would take much.
It is too bad they don't send instructions with the T2-R's. At over $500.00 one would think they would. But, I had to figure out how to get my Koni SA's on by myself too.
I owe you.

I put the ring in the oven at 350 because that was what dinner was cooking at! I kept the carrier outside at about 35 degrees until I was ready. I bolted on the ring gear. The ABS exciter ring just dropped on very easily. This should have been a no brainer.
Thanks again Ganesville.
