Default emergency brake shoe removal

I've got the 10 bolt out and the MWC 9" ready to install. How does the emergency brake shoe come off?? There's a bolt and plate up top behind the axle flange but it looks impossible to get to. Anybody done this recently? I don't have to remove the axles do I?

You have to remove the 4 nuts with an offset wrench, then pull the axles out to get the backing plates off. It is very easy.

just slide the shoe up and it will dis-enguage the clip then roll the shoe side ways and it WILL roll off the axle ( you may use a off-set screw driver to remove the clip if you wish to remove it )

All I had to do was pull up on the shoe and it came off the clip. I then used a screwdriver to pry it off the axle.

To put it on the 9" I had to remove 2 of the backing plate nuts and screws to get the shoe installed.

Time to install the 9"!
