Default Auburn to Torsen gear swap?

Are the gears interchangeable between these two rears. Are there any other factors u have to consider?

I'm looking at picking up a backup set of 3.42 gears. Always liked it for street / hwy driving.

Thanks.

They each/both will use the same gear if they are both seriese 3 (with this note: if one came with OE gear 3.08 or lower =seriese 2 and the other came OE 3.23 OR HIGHER=seriese3 in which case a thick spacer would need to be used)
also with the Auburn you should use the GM oil additive (friction modifiter)
with the torsen not needed but may use it if you like, some ppl say it helps quiten the torsen down

You mean you have a 3.42 and you want to buy another set of 3.42s? Yep it will work fine.

I'm not really looking for them but a friend is clearing them out real cheap.
Im probably one of very few that Likes the 3.42. Gear.

But it doesn't sound like they are identical between the two rears. If I had to play around with them to install than I'd rather a new set.

no one wants to mis lead you, I think there is 99% chance they are the same, with out going into long detail again, simple way to check is to measure the ring gear on both set , they will be the same thick or about 1/8 " diffeance, if about 1/8 differance you would need to buy a spacer then they would interchange, measure then go for it

They are exactly identical. Whoever would think different is completely wrong.
