Daughter's 2001 Chevy Camaro T-Boned
Hello All!
Newbie here and I'm trying to help my daughter out with this but I'm not not very familiar with rear end suspension damage. Here's the story. Last Saturday night my daughter pulled out in front of someone and was t-boned in the left rear right behind the driner's door, pushing her 180 degrees.
It looks to me like her rear swat bar is bent. Here's the left side:
Here's what it looks from the right side:
This picture is a close up of the left rear:
I'm not exactly sure what other damage there could be but so far I'm thinking sway bar but can someone tell me what else I should be looking for? I should note that when I drove it home, I was hearing all kinds of rattling and noises coming from the left rear. Also when I push down and the left rear, you can hear rattling.
Thank you,

u need to get the frame mesured and pulled i garanty its not straite you have to have the whole frame within 3 mm of spec and there 25mm in a inch
and start from there
amd are you trying to fix that 1/4 panel or replace it? the right way would be replace it but i would try to fix it if i was you. and that door jam is going to be a pain to get lined up good without replaing it
and this car is totalled right or was it not clamed through insurance

Thank you but aren't Camaros unibody? She owns the car outright so she only has liability so we'll probably just try to fix the 1/4 panel. Daughters! Go figure.

i meant unibody sorry not frame..
unibody have to be within 3mm
full frames have to be within 5mm
are you good at filler or welding
and you can do cross measurements with a friend to see if it straite just make sure to have it on the smae excact spots fro on side to the other.. mesure sway bar unibody ect and tell you if there bent

find two spots ( bolts/ holes) on each side of the car make sure there in the same spots for one side to the other. some what in the middle of the car ( they use them to measue on a mesure system but you can do it by hand and a tape mesure) and then go to the rear and find another two spots and mesure them going in a x patern from thr driver hole in the middle of the car to the passanger side rear spot and =do the same the other way and they should be within 3mm if not the frame has to be pulled ( if you dont have the same spots holes/ bolts you wont get the same mesurement. and do the same with the sway bar ect.

I would take it to a frame shop and have them check the specs and straighten if necessary. I would think the sway bar would be fine but the lower control arms would need to be replaced.

Here's a picture of the Left Rear Lower Control Arm
I just snapped this one.
This is the left rear with me taking the picture aimed towards the rear. Do this look pretty bad?
Thank you,

that LCA is broke..........
and the houseing for the LCA looks bent in as well as where that shock mounts.
you could try to straighten the houseing for the LCA & hope for the best with a different LCA in there.?.?
or if you took out that hole rear end & replaced it with another 10 bolt that is straight it will give you something to work with to get the rest of the car squared back up........

Yep, broke. Those things are basically given away around here so sourcing a new pair wont be expensive. If you want new stuff look into Founders fixed length tubular LCAs. I think they are about $60 new for the pair.

Thank you.
heymoej - A new rear end? Wow! Pretty expensive? She probably can't afford that and I know I can't. Would new housings and lca get her by safely or are the housings part of the axle tubes?
Thank you

if your brackets are bent then nothing will line up correctly
(lca, panhard & body mounts) & wear out faster if you did use them the way they are.
a used 10 bolt is around $300..........you might beable to find one that is blown for much cheaper & transfer your good parts into it,just an idea.
if you knew what was good & what was bad with what you have now............
first,
that lca is trash.the other might be good.?.?
the mount welded on that tube looks bent.?.?
we dont know if your axle on the side that was hit is still good.?.?
and hope the lsd is still good.?.?
the panhard bar is good or bad.?.?
i would start dissmantling it,lca's & panhard & compare to another set or post some pics......
is it a v6 auto car?
good luck!

Thank you heymoej.
Yes it is a v6 auto. I guess $300 isn't that bad. I just ordered an lca and panhard set from Founders.
I've got to go buy the right sockets and wrenches to take this off. All I've got are smaller sae. No mm.
What's an lsd?
Thank you
