Default ten bolt leaking question

10 bolt 3:42 posi out of an SS.

Took the the pinion yoke off due to a bolt being busted off in the yoke. Wo, we took one from an auburn posi laying around but when we took the yoke of the good one, it looked like it had a silicone gasket on the yoke in the inside on the threads. Bolted it back up and now it leaks quiet a bit over night. any suggestions? Need this car back on the road asap.

I recently had a very similar problem after removing the yoke and re-installing.

Tried once sealing with RTV under the Pinion nut and washer. Did not work.

I then disassembled the rear end, installed a solid pinion spacer, sealed with rtv on the pinion splines and yoke and replaced the seal. Torqued to specs.
This time all turned out good.

It is not torqued correctly, or you need to disassemble the gearset and install a new crush sleeve, the one in there is probably shot
