8.5 center secion swap?
Would this be any different than a 8.8 swap?
I tried searching but cant find anything on it.
Ive got one from a 2000 silverado sitting in the shop is the reson I ask.
Could I cut the axle tubes and slide mine in like on the 8.8?
and does anyone know if the axle are the same spline?
And will the driveshaft have to be shortened?
thanks
I know I would still have to deal with the TA mount but not sure on the rest

If you're asking if you can install the 8.5" ring and pinion assembly into your smaller 7.5" housing, you can't. If you're asking (which I think you are) if you can install the entire 8.5" rear end into your chassis, almost anything is possible, but the required modifications would be almost endless. The axles would have to be cut down and resplined, all mounts removed and new mounts added, and figure out a way to add a torque arm mount. Bob
