Default gov lock disassembly

I've got a gov lock style carrier out of a 98 Trans Am in my 2000 Z28. Well it made 1 trip and broke a axle gear. I have another carrier the axle gears are good in. How do I get the spring apparatus out in order to change the gear.

a 98 would have had an Auburn, never a gov-lock from the assembly line.

with the center pin removed, grabbing the spring loaded plates with pliers(large pliers) and squeezing them together to compress the springs will allow the assembly to be pulled out.

Yes, ONLY the full sized trucks got the gov-lock from the factory.

I had a old Auburn out of a 97 I took apart. Just squeezed them together and tapped it out. I'm gonna use the axle gear from it. Does anybody know if the open differentials use the same axle gears?
