I decided I'm going to have Josh (TNT fabrications) hook me up with one of his 8.8 builds. Now I just need to source out an Explore 8.8 with the right gear ratio I'm looking for; either 3.73 or 4.10. I'm still not sure if I'll go with 3rd gen axle tubes, or just use the axle tubes off my current 10 bolt. If I go with 3rd gen axle tubes, that will give me a 3" narrowed rear, which is something I've always wanted, but then I'll have to sell my current wheels and get ones with the correct back spacing.

Turbo or Procharger is going to have to be in the distant future. I need to address the rear end and suspension first before I dive into FI. With that said, I'll be staying NA for quite a while, so I'll just change out the gears when that time comes. Every part I buy for my car comes from money I earn through my side job, which is detailing vehicles. Unless I start selling drugs too, FI is going to be years down the road.

My cam isn't huge, and does well with my stock 3.42 gears, which is why I was leaning toward 3.73 or 4.10. Currently have a 26" tall tire, but will be going 28" once they need replaced.

Yeah, if he can run 9's on one, I'll be good to go. Now, what do junkyard 8.8's typically go for?

If I do decide to use the 3rd gen axle tubes, I'm going to sell my complete Dark Star setup.

In regards to the 8.8 setup, just go on FB and look up TNT Fabrication. A guy named Josh does them. He has all the details on that FB page.

If I could do it again I'd definitely go 4.30s.

If you keep a drag set up with a 28 inch radial tire I would say yes. My 4.56 with 28 inch tire at 70 mph,6th gear rpms were at 2200. But 1-4 gears are a kick in the ***!!

Thanks Zack. I'll pick your brain more on this as I continue. Now I need to work on finding a used 8.8 and 3rd gen axle tubes.

I will be running the same cam you have shortly. I run a fab 9 with a spool and 4.11s. I think I could easy go with 4.30s and it still be just fine on the street.

Plus didn't you say you was going with 28s next?
