Default I need a Driveshaft for my Build...But from whom? Opinions welcome

I am in need of a driveshaft for my little project truck. I finally Got around to getting a Measurement of 60 1/4" for the DS Length. Now The Question is, What Material to have this thing made out of as well as tube size and by Whom. Truck will be roughly 35-3700 pounds with a driver we expect and a Wheel HP rating of somewhere in the neighborhood of 1100+

Personally I am thinking a 4 or 5" Aluminum Shaft due to length, but not sure by whom. CF is OUT as its just too pricy for my budget for this shaft. Rear End is a Ford 8.8 and the Trans is a TH400.

Opinions?

The 4" aluminum is a nice shaft but you have to make sure it can fit especially in a driveshaft loop. Many different ways we could go with a shaft, give the shop a call and we can discuss things in full detail and figure something out.

I just used Driveshaft Specialist Inc on a new 3.5" aluminum driveshaft, I have yet to run it but it looks good and shipping was quick. They build large aluminum units for diesel trucks so size should be no problem.

Whatever you do, definitely factor in critical speed and whether the shaft will be safe to the road speeds you intend to use, that's a pretty long shaft

I agree, here is a link to a critical speed chart from PST.

The one purchase I have made from DSS was pretty disappointing....Ordered my drive shaft couplers Wed afternoon with 2 day air - so I could get then Friday. They never finished processing my order until Friday night. I was pissed, I should have just driven the 2.5 hours and bought them in person. Won't be doing business with them again.
