3.55 gears for 4 series 12 bolt ?
I know this has been beaten up a bit but has anyone come out with a 4 series 3.55 ? What about machining the difference (.305) off the mating surface of the ring gear? Has anyone done this? The 3.55 ring gear appears to have enough material to machine off while still leaving enough "meat" on the ring gear. looks like it will have a similar thickness after machining to the 4 series 4.10s i have side by side

I have a set of US Gear 3.73(Thin) gears in my 12-bolt with the series 4 carrier. I have to say, the ring gear is quite thin! If you machined down a 3.55 ring gear you'd want to make sure there would be enough material for the ring gear bolts to thread in to. I'm not sure if a ring gear can even be machined in such a way. Honestly, it sounds like finding a new carrier might be your best bet.

Well i talked to a machinist by me and it is feasible. Another option would be to split the difference, like machine .105 off the face of the diff flange and .200 off the ring gear. But he says itll be $150-250 to do and at that point your halfway into a new carrier and it would ruin your 4 series carrier for future use.
Well, it was a thaught......
Now i have a 4 series Moroso Brute Strength F.S. with very little use. haha
