Default Qp 9" LT1 backing plates to ls1 backing plates

Ok so I have a question this is everything tha I want to swap into my 02 SS
A had a friend a while back that said to convert the backing plates is just swap LT to LS turns out I just found out right before the swap that's not how it works I bought this used off a 97 fbody Z28
What exactly parts do I need and for the bearing do I need a special press or is that something I can get at harbor freight
TIA

Youll need to cut the bearing off and replace with a new bearing/seal set. I was able to do this with a harbor freight 12 ton press at home if youre creative.

The new bearing and seal set... Are all axles the same size is there any difference in 10 bolt axle and a 9" axle?

Well a 10 bolt axle is signifcantly smaller then an aftermarket axle plus uses a different type of bearing. Most of the bearings are similar with aftermarket rear ends because they use the same housing ends. So if the hosuings are the same and the shoulder the bearing rides on on the axle is machined the same you end up with the same bearings for lots of applications. Youll need to find someone familiar with the part numbers and get the right bearing set. They can typically be purchased locally if you are in a rush.
