the 7.5 was in all the s10 variants , it was in a lot of g bodies too including rwd monte ss's . I think Monza/vega etc... and variants of those basically low hp 70's and 80's stuff got them while higher perf 72-81 chevelles , Camaros , firebirds , novas ,venturas etc... got 8.5's and a couple g bodies gn ,t type , 442 and cant recall if the grand prix 2+2 got it also. I had a couple monte ss's 87 and 88 and felt ripped off that the slower 442's got the beefy rear lol

---"I've got it, lets put a restrictor orifice in the clutch line to slow down the fluid flow so the driver can only hit the driveline so hard"
---"great idea, but what about the crud that builds up in the line at the orifice and eventually chokes it off?"
---"We'll deal with that if it happens. It's either that or we eat all these axles"
So, there are two things. The orifice in the clutch line - hence the "drill mod" to get rid of that orifice. The other thing is that self-adjuster mechanism, which softens over time, weakening the pressure plate. When it gets bad enough, the pedal starts randomly coming up half way, etc. Typically, the solution ends up being an aftermarket clutch without the adjuster AND an aftermarket master cylinder.
And eventually a better axle

And I plan to uh, eventually get a better axle. I'll be the 167,584th guy to see how long my 10 bolt can live with drive line snapping mods.

Without a full spool if a broken ring/pinion teeth inside can cause the axle to lockup at speed. That is the only thing that worries me about using a more efficient *weaker* ring/pinion axle, that broken ring/pinion teeth could cause it to lockup at speed. But with a full spool usually there's room for all the broken pieces to float around inside.

only the s10 zr2 pickup and blazer came with this rear. The rear was the same as the standard 1500 series rear, hence the need for the fender flares. It was wider and heavier and gave no real life advantage that I have ever found in the s10. I currently have both trucks sitting in my driveway and the zr2 is a Pig on gas....😠....

Curious to see the OP's venture into this as well. I have been debating on trying something similar starting with one of our bolt on mounts for our TAS systems for first and second gen f-bodies

Or at the VERY least on the T56 cars. I think they must have underestimated how much that T56 transfers to the rear
