I think I want an 8.8 rear end
I have been putting alot of thought into this and I have decided to go with an 8.8. What all has to be cone to modify it to fit my 98 T/A?? I will be putting in new axles, centersection and converting to 5 lug. Also I am wanting to keep my ABS and I don't have TCS. Is this worth the time and money it would take to have it fabbed right??
Thanks in Advance,
Jake

I've been researching this as have many others.
The Pros:
1. Stronger than a 10 bolt, strong enough to run 9's or 10's depending on who you ask.
2. Gears, posi, girdle, and center section can be had cheap due to the huge number of Mustangs they were used in.
3. More horsepower efficient than a 9 inch or 12 bolt.
4. Lighter than a 9 inch or 12 bolt
Cons:
1. Problems with customer service with the only current commercial shop doing it (no disrespect to you Cam, you just need to get your stuff going)
2. Axles are not off the shelf
3. Housing is not off the shelf
4. Not as strong as a 9 inch
5. Heavier than the stock rear.
6. Takes a little more horsepower to spin than the stock rear.
7. If you purchase the entire system from a vendor they are not a lot cheaper than a 9 inch or 12 bolt.
My thoughts...
I will be buying (how much Cam ) or building one this winter.
