Default which gear 3.73/3.42?

I am going to get a 35/3600 stall converter for my 98 A4 Trans Am so which gear would i be happier with i plan to visit the track some but i am not planning to drive it everyday just a weekend ride! car has very few upgrades exhaust and filter and plan to get programmer also what gear should i get?

Also i have heard some about a programmer u can change the gear is that to set the computer for what gear you put in it or can u actually set the gear with a programmer??

I say 3.73's. It's a good gear for A4's, and with your stall it will wake up 1/4 mile performance.


Don't get a Hypertech Programmer, it's a waste of money. You can get your car tuned on dyno with HP Tuners or LS1 edit at your local f-body shop and get more out of the tune than the Hypertech.
