Question Do I need a slide hammer to pull an axel out of a Moser 9"?

Anyone know, I need to be sure of the spline count before ordering a locker. Thanks

Mark

Nope, sometimes they are a little tough to pull out, but I have always pulled mine out by hand

Mark,

I just replaced my 9" 3rd member with a posi 3rd member. I have a complete 3rd member with a Nutech Detroit Locker, 31 spline, 3.50 gears, and a 1330 yoke that I'll sell for $450 plus shipping (less than half of what my new 3rd member cost). It's in great shape, I put about 10K miles on it and about 10 passes down Carlsbad Raceway (no traction!!!). I got tired of the locking/unlocking a Detroit locker does but it's bullit proof! Shoot me a PM if interested.

Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind I still need to pull an axel & count the splines. BTW what do you mean by "locking/unlocking" the diff?

A Detroit Locker is gear driven (not clutch disk driven) when going straight. That's what gives it the strength for drag racing. The gears are "unlocked" to allow you to turn a corner. When the gears "lock/unlock" you get a "clunking". Just a side effect of being bullit proof.
