Install Kit? for 2.73 to 3.42
I bought a used Auburn rear (Non TCS) with 3.42's for my 2 to 3 series carrier swap. The ring is already mated to the carrier and the u-joint yoke is mated to the pinion (ring reluctor is mated too). I've bought gear oil and limited slip additive and all i need to do now is buy an install kit. Which one has all i really need?
Basic Kit: Includes pinion shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal & cover gasket
Complete Kit: Includes pinion shims, carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts, cover gasket, and pinion & carrier bearings
Deluxe Kit: Includes pinion shims, carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts, cover gasket, pinion & carrier bearings, PLUS wheel bearings and seals. (All of the small parts and pieces necessary to RESTORE an axle to like new condition!)
so the basic or complete? thanks in advance itll save me $50

Unless it is a very high milage unit or bearings show wear or are noisy I would normally just get basic kit but given your usage, I would replace all bearings in pig with complete kit I believe.

yea, i guess the complete kit it is then. My 2.73 rear has 67K miles on it, but the carrier i got came out of a 96 WS6 M6 with 63K. The teeth look good with hardly any wear. (I just gotta get another carrier spring, carrier bolt, and bolt screw that were somehow not on the unit when i got it)
