Default Grind the paddle or grind the gear?

I'm installing 4.10's in a 10 bolt T2R Torsen and was wondering what the latest thinking was on this? Searching comes up with some grind the gear and some grind the paddle. Is it still a 50-50 toss up?

That's a 100 percent response to grinding the paddle. I like that idea better than grinding on the pathetic piece of metal they call a ring gear.
