Angry Broke something and need help

I gunned the car out of first gear and the back off my car shook and my driveshaft twisted and snapped in half. When I stopped the rear wheels only made a 3/4 turn and then locked up. They will only move 3/4 of a turn or so. I was wondering what you guys think I broke.
1999 ls1 m6 stock rear gear and driveshaft. What brands do you recommend I buy to replace the broken parts.

The pinion could have come loose and locked inside of the differential case. I have seen this before and you will have to replace everything inside.

do you mean I have tho replace the ring and pinion or the whole differential. How can I tell if I need to buy the 2 series and the 3 series without talking anything apart.

More than likely, you will have to replace the carrier, ring and pinion and all bearings. If your M6 car is a '99, it should have a Torsen carrier and 3.42 gearset. If it's traction-control equipped, it's a series 4 carrier. If not, it's a series 3. Always wise to pull it apart first, before buying the new (or used) parts....Hope this helps. WJ
