Default s10 rear in a camaro???

i can get a good deal on a camaro 12 bolt rear...will it fit in my camaro? i checked the search but all that came up was a bunch of guys putting lt1 rears on an s10. they said it worked fine, but i want to go the other way around. what can i expect, will i have to mount backing plates/lca mounts? will i have to get a custom DS? what about spring perches and shock mounts?

So if I understand this correctly you are trying to put an S10 rear end into your camaro?

how is it bad? i thought the factory 10 bolt sucked. i know it does...i broke one when i put on a cai and headers...busted the gears on a 2.73. can you please explain why it would be bad instead of just saying "bad"?

I may be wrong but I think an S-10 rear is a 7.5in just like OEM Camaro. In any case lots of fabrication would be needed to adapt it to an F-Body. Not only spring perches, lca mounts & driveshaft but torque arm mount, overall width, ABS rings would have to be adapted. By the time you get it done you spend as much if not more than a 12 bolt. Get a 9" from Moser or Strange & be done with it.

Believe it or not.. the 3.73 or 4.10's people buy from SLP because they are OEM gears- they come from the S-10! Our carrier and gears are the SAME thing as the recent S-10 pick ups. I sold the stock carrier out of my '02 to a guy who blew his up at the track and has the carrier from an S-10 in his Camaro now until I send him mine.
