Default Noise from Rear End

I have a stock 2000 Formula that is running great but I hear a strange loud noise coming from the rear. It sounds like a vibrating or rubbing of some sort but makes it sound like a jet taking off any time. It only makes the noise when the car is in gear (revving in neutral and cruising at any speed in neutral does not make the noise). And when it is in gear but not accelerating the noise is not so prominent but pushing down on the accelerator increases the volume. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Thanks

If it makes the noise only in gear it sounds more like a transmission problem. If it was making that jet noise all the time it might be the bearing.

Perhaps the sound is in the transmission and the sound is resonating down the driveshaft to the rear. If it was a bad bearing in the rear it would make that sound regardless if you were in neutral or in gear.
