Default gearing help

A buddy of mine has a 02 Tahoe Z71 with a lift and 285/70/17 tires with stock 3.73 gears. He has a CJ7 Jeep that he wants to pull behind on road trips. Someone suggested 4.56 gears. Is that going to be too much???? Any suggestions???? TIA....Scott

Default

use the formulas

if i remember correctly

they are
stock tire diameter/new tire diameter * stock gear ratio= effective gear ratio

and also

new tire/stock tire * x = stock gear ratio

i cant remember if that is right or no someone please chime in
