Default Driveshaft length (t56)

I recently bought a Strange Chromeoly driveshaft from a buddy of mine that had it in his stock height (hals) '01 TA with a Moser 12bolt. My set up has Jamex lowering springs (~1.5" drop) and a strange 12bolt. He said he never had a problem with the DS. My car seems to vibrate like hell and I can't figure out what it is. How can I tell if the driveshaft is too short? I have measured and from the "seated" position in the middle of the Ujoint to the furthest the DS will push onto the output shaft, in the middle of the ujoint, is 2.5"s. That doesn't seem bad enough to cause a vibration but could it be?
My friend I bought the DS from had his car up to 140 with no probs. My car vibrates at 70+. The DS was only a week old when I got it so the Ujoint should be fine, there are no noticable weights broken or fallen off. I also have stock TQ arm.

Please help

when looking at the driveshaft where it slides into the trans, you will need at least 1" distance. that way it has room to slide in/out as the car suspension travels up/down. one thing to check is the rear u-joint. make sure it's centered on the yoke.

Yea it will go 2.5"s into the trans from its seated position in the rear. Do you think there is a possibility of it being too short?

Joe, take it to a tranny shop and have it checked for balance. Did you pick it up from Todd or was it shipped? Could have been smacked around during shipping if so.

He brought it out to me. I am 99 percent its too short I just don't know how to measure it. Do I measure from Ujoint to Ujoint or end to end?

I just experianced the same thing. Mine has a Strange yoke on the front. I held it up against my stock DS and it was 1/2 inch too short. It was readily apparent that it was not engaging fully when you grab the front and move it around...there should be little play or slop. The 1/2 short DS with the Strange yoke seemed quite sloppy.

The Moser 12 bolt takes a shorter driveshaft. The Strange 12 bolt takes stock length.
