i have the stock gears in my a4, which are 2.73s. i installed 3.73s in the past but had trouble with my pinion bearing/crush sleeve set-up. i have a buddy at a gm dealer who is going to cover my rear end under warranty and get me either the 3.42 m6 gears or the 3.23 gears, whichever i prefer, of course i would prefer the 3.42s but after reading the forum about the series 2 and 3 carriers it sounds like i may not be able to. any knowledgeable help would be much appreciated, thanks.
also, what are the different codes for gears? GU5?GA2?G80?3.23?2.73?3.42?

try and find a "3 Series Carrier" then installing the 3:42's wont be a problem
