moser 12 bolt what fluid
installing a moser 12 bolt ive read that u arent supposed to use synthetic fluid why is that.....ive run lucas oil 80/90 in the old rear and it wore great over time want to go with the same fluid again........is there anything detremential that would happen to the rear if i used the lucas 80/90 rear fluid

The reason for no synth is it is too slippery for the posi clutches (or that's what Moser will tell you). I just run Valvoline 85-140 and 2 bottles of addative from GM.

the lucas is thick and coated everything in the 10 bolt well i cant see that fluid hurting anything....i put 2 1/2 quarts and 1 bottle of gm posi addative...... anybody have any expirence with the lucas in mosers

hey lucus make 2 different fluids
they make a syn 80/90 and they also make a non-syn 80/90 with posi additive already in it
thats what im running in my moser right now and all is well
its still wines but whatever haha

From talking to a tech at Moser he said to go with the recommendation from your gear manufacturer. They say to use non-synthetic because most of their units go out with US Gears in them and that is what they recommend. I opted for the Richmond gear and they recommend synthetic. I went to a local tranny shop and they gave me Synergyn Lubricants Syngear II 80w/140 full synthetic with an additive. It's what they use in their drag cars, and it's worked excellent my first 1000 miles. Just about to change it now after the break-in.
