Stock DS Question
since the search has been kinda funky lately, i thought i'd ask
what will the stock Al DS hold? Plan to put ~400-450wrhp with nitto555r's, spec 4 clutch, maybe 4k RPM dumps? 150 shot once the car is movin.
I have a safety loop.
Will the stocker hold up?

Ya there alot of damage it can do. Rip a hole in your floor board. If it breaks (like rips apart) it could stick in the ground possibly flipping your car. Also if it breaks theres your fuel lines that run right next to the driveshaft in the tunnel. Alot of stuff can happen, a driveshaft loop is mostly for if a u-joint breaks keeping it from doing all the other stuff that I stated earlier. But when it rings the stocker in half that loop can only help the end its on.

hey ken,
is the stock length working for you? I guess i just remembered that when I checked the length, the rear was hanging down some
i don't see how the currie or moser could differ that much

Well, the previous owner of my car had cam/bolts ons and a TNT 150 shot with the stock driveshaft. He launched on slicks most of the time and it never gave out. I am surprised it didn't, but it held. I am not recommending you try it, but just letting you know about a stocker that did hold up.

I've got a new in the box Inland Empire HD driveshaft I need to sell if anyone is interested - rated for 500hp according to their website - I'll sell it for $25 less than Summit's price if anyone is interested.

any stories on the stock STEEL driveshaft?
i have a factory 273 automatic car, equipped with a steel driveshaft. i have not read anything anywhere about guys tearing these up. i know having the automatic will help. my plans include ~425rwhp through the unlocked converter. i will restall to 4400 after my tranny grenades itself. looking for sub 1.5 60s. can the stock steely take it?
