rearend narrowing

rearend narrowing hello... I am new here. I have been following this site for quite some time.
I am building a truck and need some help/advice. I want to put 20x10 wheels on the back with 3" to 3 1/2" backspacing. The width of the bed between wheel wells is about 50" and the tires (295/40/20) will probably stick out 1/4 to 1/2" over the rim. BTW,the wheel will be reverse rim option. What measurement do you think would be about right for the rearend to be narrowed to? thank you
