Default 4.10s in a M6?

I had a friend tell me that 4.10s in a M6 car is a timebomb. Said the pinion is nothing and just ready to be chewed off. Is this true? Any 4.10/M6 guys out there beating the hell out of thier cars and having "bombs" go off in thier rear end? lol

Due to the constrants of the 7.5" design ya the pinion is pretty small with a 4 series gear. If you dont plan on going to the track or really ******* /lauching it you prolly be OK. But if you want to take it to the track get a real rear 12 bolt, 9" or dana 60.

The other night I pulled multiple 1.67 60' times pulling the driver's side tire about 3 inches with the 7.5 10 bolt and 4.10's (logs show 6000+ rpm launches).. the only thing that didn't like it was the 60k LS6 clutch started to slip a tad after I did it a couple of times..lol (I do have an Eaton HD posi, but everything else is stock)

The key is to NOT dump the clutch, slip it fast and the stock parts will go a long way IMO. Although, if your not drag racing they will be fine as long as you don't wheel hop the car on the street.

Also, i've been beating on mine with 1.7-1.6 60' times on DR's and ET Streets for a year now like this without ONE problem.

I had them in my stock 10 bolt, worked fine down to the 12s. Have heard of guys on drags and bottle getting into mid 11's but it's risky especially on drag tires doing 4k launches. I never broke mine, but it's gone, have a 12 bolt now.
