Default Gears????

I have a 99 Camaro SS and as of right now i have a lid, air filter, intake bellow, and slp LTs. I was wondering what kind of performance gain i would see if i installed a set of 3:42's. Any info would be great i just wanted to know the pros and cons before i did this. Should i pick a different gear if i plan any future power mods?

Your motor revs up higher with the higher numerical gears. In other word it stays in it's power band longer. Don't go higher than a 3.73's IMO. I'm also assuming you have an A4? You'll notice a little more gas usage as a con. I'd say stick to the 3.42's as for a nice street gear. You won't run out of breath at the strip with a 26 inch tall tire and juice too, if you decide that is a possible future mod.

Thanks Postal it is an A4. Is there that big of a difference between 3:42 and 3:73? Is one better for coming of the line?
