Question what rear end to get

i have an A4 and i was wondering why it says to get a 12 bolt. a Ford 9 inch is cheaper and stronger isnt it. Whats the difference if a A4 gets a 9 inch instead of a 12 bolt, is there a mechancical reason or what?

I think it's just thought that a 9" for an A4 is overkill, and since you lose more hp with a 9", why not run a more efficient 12-bolt if you don't really need a 9".
