Default Decisions....9" or 12 bolt

I know...I know. Been beat to death.
But I am about 24-48 hours away from ordering a rear.
I have searched though, and am not able to find the answers to a couple questions.

1. Opinions/cons/pros of both a 4.10 and a 4.11.
2. Weight differences between 12 bolt and 9" if both are Moser housings??
3. Is the Moser 12 bolt enough to take a 500 RWHP 500 ft/pound car??
4. Stock driveshaft fit into Moser rear ends without modding??
5. Recommendations for a 500 RWHP 500 ft/pound car?
6. How much more parisitic loss does the 9" really have over the 12 bolt?

TIA

1. Opinions/cons/pros of both a 4.10 and a 4.11. Really these two are identical, it just depends on what can be made to work with the parts used.

2. Weight differences between 12 bolt and 9" if both
are Moser housings?? If I remember correctly, the 9 inch is approx 30 lbs heavier.

3. Is the Moser 12 bolt enough to take a 500 RWHP 500 ft/pound car?? Yes, in an automatic car. For the stick cars I would go with a 9 inch.

4. Stock driveshaft fit into Moser rear ends without modding?? Yes. Both the automatic and the stick cars use the same length driveshaft, and can retain it. You will need a Napa pn# 240-0447 conversion U Joint, as the stock driveshaft has a 1310 yoke, and the Moser rears come standard with a 1350 yoke.

5. Recommendations for a 500 RWHP 500 ft/pound car? I'd go with the Moser 9 inch. I prefer the way Moser bolts the torue arm up to the 9 inch better than their 12 bolt. The Moser 9 inch uses the oem style of using two long bolts. For some reason Moser uses 4 short bolts on their 12 bolt to connect the torque arm, and they have a bad habit of working loose, even with using loctite.

6. How much more parisitic loss does the 9" really have over the 12 bolt? That's good question. We had a T/A that had a Moser 12 bolt, that we swapped it out for a 9 inch. We should of dyno'd the difference... I'd say it's not enough not to go with the 9 inch. Bob

Thank you!!!
Actually looking at the Moser 9" with 3.90's.

With the tire I will be running (26") I would most likely be bouncing off the limiter crossing the traps with the 4.10/4.11.

Good Choice, same rear and gear that i ordered 2 months ago...those tires will fit nice under your car. Make sure you get all the options you can, you'll be glad you did.

Good deal Curtis.. get the 9" for sure. If I had a A4 Id go 12bolt no doubt. Im going with the S60 because I cant get a ABS friendly 9" with my non-TCS car and the weight between the two isnt enough to make me worry with almost 600rwhp.
