3:73 gear swap Need Help
Car is in the shop for the swap and the place cant get the gears in right.Can some1 pleased post what the correct backlash should be set at and anything else need to have the gears set right, so I can compare to what there trying to set the geats at.(swapping from 3:23s to 3:73s precision gears in an A4 2000WS6 on stock 10bolt)

Check in the FAQ at the top of the forum -- most vendors recommend between .006” - .010” backlash. The install instructions that came with the gear should also have a spec.
Also check your install kit. I have twice had bad bearings in Ratech install kits that made setting up the gear really difficult.

The depth is determined by the gear, it should have a reccomended depth scribed on it. The backlash sounds fine, usually between .008-.012 for an aftermarket gear, OEMs are tighter.
