Default Moser 9" & Strange brakes

My axle slides in and out with the caliper mounting bracket installed. With the axle pushed in, the caliper doesn't center on the rotor. Also the rotor is just about scraping the bracket. I've heard about a shim that goes between the bearing and the housing. Is this true and where do I get this from? Was it supposed to come with the brakes? Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you have the incorrect bearing retainers (what you are refering to as caliper mounting brackets) for the type of bearing you are using.

With the retainer installed, the axle shouldnt move in or out at all (less than 0.005").

Looks like you need to give Strange a call to get the correct retainer for the housing/bearing ends of the Moser.

You ordered the housing with flush mount ends when they should have been ordered for strange brakes. You can make up a .120 spacer, I have done that on a few cars but you loose the pilot that keep the backing plate centered to the axleshaft.

Thanks. It's Mosers fault for this situation. They were told I was using Strange brakes. I found the shims from Burkhart Chassis. They stock shims for exactly this situation.

Good to hear you have the spacers needed, I make then every so ofter on my lathe when I get burned by Moser. I'm just about to order up a new housing for my 3rd gen and I'm running the Strange Race brakes. Fronts look killer, just wish I could afford a set of MT rims to show them off more.
