Default reluctor rings...

checked the search but couldnt find an answer. Istalling the new 9" and the machine shop wasnt paying attention as to which way the rings were facing. Anybody know? flat side towards axle flange or towards the center?

4 channel btw

Damn, didnt notice when I did mine. I used a torch to heat mine up, grabbed them with channel locks and pulled them off, dropped them on the new axles. If I had to guess, Id say the flat goes towards the axle. It just seems like I remember them not being flat while I had the axle with shaft pointing up, heating the rings. Be patient, I'm shure tomorrow someone will respond with a definite.

hopefully, Im kinda wanting to get it done this weekend, I didnt trust the heating method..anything that can go wrong, will go wrong for me, machine shop didnt charge since i was having them do the bearings and DS. We figured the grooved side went towards the flange since it would fit more snug that way.

the outer edge of the reluctor should be pretty close to the stud heads... off the top of my head i believe the ring is set up so it offsets closest to the flange, so the flat side would be toward the splines.

turns out its the opposite, the groove is to face the axle splines. The only hard part is to get the nuts on the T-bolts.....

moser axles and stock GM rings, I just got the car done at 6am.... Had to take off the E-brakes to get the nuts on the T-Bolts, but wasnt that hard, everything fits and ASC and ABS still works
