Default Gear Whine!

had a gear HOWLING on deceleration. started at 50mph and down.
it was a used gear, and started to make more and more noise(louder) as time went on. only on deceleration.
ordered a new gear and bearing kit to solve the issue.
after about 100 miles on it, the howling is back.
same pitch, same issue. starts at 50mph on the decel. its not near as loud as the other gear. you can still hear the radio, so far.

nodular case
4.33 gear
detroit true trac
timken bearings

i would think with rod ended suspension parts, that the whine could be comming from the transmission, or other. but the problem stopped with a new gear. even if it was the transmission, it would have long exited. i dont know many tranmissions that stay together when making noises.
im lost. tried to remedy an issue and seems to have wasted funds.

Some times aftermarket gears just whine. certain one more than others. a lot of times gears are noisy b/c they were not set as good as they could have been. i would doubt that it's you're trans if you're running a 4.33 gear.

Is this a 9"?

- What brand of gears?
- Who built it and reinstalled the new gears?

Same person install it twice? Sounds like the pinion setup is not quite right.

moser 9"
1st gear was a motive(known to be nice on the ears)
new gear is a jegs brand, which i know several people run and have good luck with them.
both gears were set up by 2 different people. i was trying to eliminate chance of install error.
i know a steep gear is going to make noise, but its excessive.

i changed the gear oil today with only 100 miles on it, its a bluish silver cover.
lucas oil is nowhere near this color.
i have a magnetic drain plug, and it looked like an old tranny pan magnet. full of silver slosh.

only thing i can think of is the gears in the true trac eating itself? by the look of the oil, something isnt right. rearend isnt hot at all. after a 30 minute drive at 70mph on the highway, i could put my hand on the rear housing and it wasnt hot.

im just going to run it till i cant hear and then go with a completely new center section.
arrrgggg.
