Most definitely. A out-of-balance tire-wheel combo will shake so violently on the top end that your fillings will be falling out....Also, I've found the Mickey Thompson drag tires to be WAY out of balance most of the time. That's ET Streets, or ET Drags. Correct wheel balance is VERY important on a drag race car. Best wishes. WJ.

Just think about it....you will be doing 100mph + would you want a severly out of balance tire at that speed?

Run them a few times hard on the street to 75MPH and then balance them. This will make them much better to balance out...

And going a step further...

Are edge-of-the-rim weights legal? Or do they have to be stick on?

Reason I ask, I have brand new ET drags on my Bogarts. I did have them balanced, but the stick on rim weights did not clear the caliper. So they came off.

Should I:

1) Grind the **** outta the caliper
2) Rearrange the stick on weights
3) Do rim edge weights? I would think they'd be illegal, since in theory they could be slung off (whereas I put duct tape over the stick on weights).

TIA,

-Andrew
