How strong are Moser axles ? shafts only
I only ask, because I am using 31 spline in my 8.8".
Been a while since I raced, and last time out, I twisted a LH shaft ( using a ******* horrible spool at that time ). Not much, but a visible twist.
Anyway, I fitted a Torsen diff again, and the same shafts for a trip to a Dyno back in January. At this time, the RH shaft was totally straight.
Ive only driven to the dyno and back, some running in miles, say 1000 in total. ALL easy miles. No hard use at all.
They dyno was maybe 20+ pulls, all in 4th gear.
I finally remove the axles again to fit some MW axles....and now the RH shaft is also twisted.
On a Dynapack it was making 750rwtq. Surely this should never be able to twist a 31 spline axle in 4th gear ? 3.55 rear diff.
According to their own calculator, thats only applying 2400lbs of torque to the rear, and the shafts are rated at 7000lbft.
All in all the shafts havent seen that much abuse, and are less than a year old. Mostly road miles, with maybe 20-30 passes, all in the mid 10's
