Default Gear change difference

I have a 2002 Z-28 A4 with LTs and a lid. I have the 2:73 and will be putting new gears in. My question is would I gain much more with a 3:73 over a 3:42?
I know a stall is the way to go but I cant do that right now. And is there much more of a gas mileage hit from the 3:42 to 3:73s or very little difference?
Thanks in advance.

Default

There would be only a marginal difference, I would go ahead and go with 3.73's.
