rearend whining more
Both on and off the gas at around 50 mph and on up. It's not a loud whine. I had the rear end rebuilt twice on 6 months yrs ago when under warranty. I had the pinion seal replaced about 18 months ago. I changed the fluid one yr ago. What things can I check if I take the cover off other than chipped teeth and shavings?

Well the rear has always whined off the gas around 65m mph since the last rebuilt. I have driven over 30k miles since then and it hasn't changed until tuesday.

I am currently having the same issue, it began after a nice little burnout.....the noise starts at 40 MPH and stops around 75, does it on both accel and decel. I have the stock 2.73 gear. Dealer installed new pinion seal (was leaking before), flushed fluid, pulled the cover off and he said it looked like brand new inside. Still whines like it did before....he suggested it may be a tire with a broken belt, but I don't know that I buy that answer.

Mine started all the sudden. On tuesday I drove to work and no new noises. Then on the way home the new whine. It's the stock 3.42's. Around town the rear makes noise too I just noticed, thought not as much. Also I'm getting clunking again when shifting and I whirling noise when coasting to a stop. The last time I had clunking shifting was a bad trans mount. I've been using a Prothane mount for about 8 months now. I need to check the mount.
