L76 Questions
I just picked up a complete L76 from a friend thru LKQ for 2200, complete engine accessories, harness and ecm. I am going to DOD delete, add a cam, size yet to be determined.
I also am going to go thru the bottom end and have it freshened up, what weak links are there in these motors, I will be hitting it with a 150 shot. I am also going to mate it to a 4L80E with a 34-3600 stall converter, brand yet to be determined.
Should really wake up my 240Z.
Thanks,
Mike

Im no expert but as far as the strength of the short block you shouldn't have to worry about it with a cam and a 75 shot. Its basically an LS2 bottom end. The main weak link is obviously the DOD system which you will be removing. There are multiple G8s running over 600 rwhp and some higher than that with the stock bottom end. Yes that should def push a 240 around fairly well.

I will be hitting it with a 150 shot, was not sure about thrength of the pistons. I am currently running a 385 sbc stroker first gen in my z with all forged internals and AFR 210 heads. It's a nice set up that has gotten my 240Z down the 1/4 in 9.75 at 137 but am sick of the carb set up with crappy fuel economy. I drive my Z everywhere so 10 mpg sucks!
