Gen4 4.8/243 & 6.0 Gen 3 Heads swapable?
I am looking at purchasing 2 truck engines in hopes to swap into a couple vehicles. I have a 62 biscayne wagon that I want to put a stock truck engine into and sell. Intent is to make a nice driver, not worried about horsepower.
The other is a 1987 monte carlo SS that I have a 6.0 from a 2002 chevy truck. It is DBW but is the older TB that has the servo control and TPS wires on seperate plugs.
My source also has a couple Gen IV 4.8L that have 243 heads on it.
My question is can I buy both the 4.8L and the 6.0L and swap the heads. The intent is to build a performance 6.0. and a non performance, reliable motor for the 62 wagon. I am hoping the valves are the same size and no changes in pushrod length, rockers etc are required.
I can get the 4.8L with only 5000 miles for $1300 with the 243 heads. Includes computer, harness and accesories for cmplete swap
The 6.0 is same price but has 110,000 miles and also includes everything I need.
Anyone have any thoughts or concerns on my plan?arethe valves the same size between heads? I havn't heard much aboutvalve size on the LSx heads, just casting info.
An feedback would be appreciated.
