Default Swap maintance

It's a 98 out of a camaro with 136k. As far as I can tell it's all stock. Ran and drove fine, with no noticeable sounds. it did have a vibration when I shifted under moderate load (when I pushed the clutch in something vibrated when the load was released.) I will try and check the input and out shafts on the transmission, but need to look at how to do that. It is looking like the u joint at the transmission is worn out, I am hoping that's what it was.

So is there anything I should do while this is out? I keep reading that the early rod bolts were not very good. is it worth my time and money to put the Katech's in? I would like to do heads and cam later, which should be fairly easy in car.

Next up, everybody says that 1 7/8 headers are too small, how bad would 1 5/8 LT be? There are some cheaper swap headers but they are 1 5/8, is it just not worth it?

Anything I am missing? Oh, by the way it's going into an 88 camaro.

1 7/8 headers are not too small and some argue to big. I think 1 7/8 are good and needed for a heads and cam car. I will be switching to them if I can't hit 400 with my next round of mods. As for the rod bolts if you plan on doing it at all I would do it with the motor out right now to save time and money. I am not sure about your vibrations. Do you have pics of the car it's going in I love 3rd gen ls1 swaps

Sadly I don't have any decent pictures of the 3rd gen, and I'm loaning it to a friend while I take this car apart. Its in need of a paint job, which I plan on trying to get done during this whole process. Its still original paint which the clear is completly gone in large sections of it. Otherwise its a great car. TPI 5 speed Iroc, that has been super reliable since I bought it a few years ago.

here is the one picture I have:

I know 1 7/8 are not too small, it was late and I was mixing numbers up. I had read 1 3/4 are considered to small by some, but what I want to know is are 1 5/8 way too small?

Glad to see another lsx third gen! Mine was a straight forward swap. All I did was wash the motor down good. As if that's a mod LOL
Mine was said to of had 106,xxx on the odo. Turned out to have 186,xxx.
And it still ran a 13.2 at 111.
