Default Get rid of tbss for gto?

Sup guys. I have an 07 tbss 3ss. Bought it last June and I love the truck. Last Monday the trans **** on me. And I'm not hard on my ****. Spirited, but not hard. I knew they were week getting into the game, but it had already some beefed up modifications. So I thought I was in the clear.

So when I put a new trans in it, I'm not sure if I should keep it or not. Like I said before, I love it, but now I can't trust it. Most the problem areas lie within the drivetrain.

I'm not in dyer need of an SUV, but I do commute to work everyday with 3 other people, have a dog, and also gather quite a bit of stuff to haul around once and a while.

So along with the ss drivetrain issues, gas sucks(which I also knew before), and the car payment sucks.

I also want a great crusing vehicle with some snort and decent mileage on highway. And that leads to gto.

What would you guys do?

You either like to be up high or low to the ground lol and that's how you decide.

Personally, and if it is a cruising car, get a vette. Is it is between the TBSS and GTO, well.. I'm a car guy so I would say GTO since it is lighter.

Vettes are cool, but they are all too common IMO. Which in a way is a good thing too. But I think I'd still prefer gto. I do like to be higher up, but I also like taking corners and shifting gears. Guess I'd be ok with getting a beater truck

GTOs are pretty comfortable cars. I love TBSS also, I just wouldnt know if to leave the TBSS for a GTO. Go for it.

I think the 2 biggest pros to going with gto is the fun to drive factor, better on gas, and cheaper car payments. Also, from what I've been reading, they're fairly reliable. At least the drivetrain is. Can't say that about the tbss lol

A built 4l60/65/70e from one of our sponsors would be more than up to the task of handling your TBSS. You'd be out about $2k but not have to worry about it again.

I will respectfully disagree. I've seen some well built 4L70s fail on the TBSS with very little abuse. They are just trying to move too much weight while controlling a lot of power.

OP, I'd go with either a built 4L80 (go big or go home) or ditch the truck for the GTO (which I think you've already decided to do).

I personally prefer the tbss over the gto, but have you considered a g8? From the sounds of it you need the room and the g8 is more spacious than the gto.

The g8 is a bit outta my price range yet. I can hardly keep up with the tbss between the car payments, gas, and now repairs lol.

go buy a GTO. a high mileage 04 GTO just sold at a local dealer for only $7,000. It had 93,000 miles on it but it was very clean. Had good tires and Anerican Racing Wheels. all stock except for the CAI unit. It did have a few tiny paint chips on the hood and around one head light. The dealer sold it on the first day they put it on the lot .

The TBSS is pretty cool because of the engine and drivetrain but at the end of the day...It's a Trailblazer. Get the GTO and don't look back.
