I Need More Power.. Any Suggestions?
Hows it going? I just dropped a LQ4 LS motor into my 1951 Dodge about a year ago. The motor was out of a 2004 Chevy pickup. It runs great but i would like to get more power out of it. It made 301 on a dyno last summer. I have thought about going twin turbos or a supercharger or even nitrous. I have heard a camshaft, heads and intake would be a good start.
What are some of the best ways to make more power without breaking the bank?
Thanks in advance..

I know once i get more power obviously I will be wanting more and so on. I was thinking i would like to get around another 100 hp. A friend of mine runs twin turbos he picked up from ebay and they seem to be working fine and i realize you get what you pay for.
If i were to cam it? Will those stock heads be alright and when i change the valve springs do the heads need machined? Thanks

Call Martin and ask him what he recommends for your setup.

With some trick flow heads or maybe a prc aftermarket casting and one of our custom cams, you can break 460 without a whole lot of effort. And it will seem tame compared to alot of other setups.

For starters I'd get that air filter over to the far left or right so you can start drawing in cooler air.
I'd also figure out how high of a stall torque converter you're willing to go with. Since the stall rpm will help determine how big of a cam that you can go with I'd figure it out first. It would also be good to know what rear gears you'll be running.

Are you planning on running boost at some point? If not, I'd get rid of the stock heads and get some 243s to raise compression. Those and a good cam will net you a pretty decent gain.
