Decoding VIN, finding production number
Alright I was attempting to determine what production number my SS was earlier today and learned a lot about the VIN. IF you are new or experienced with GM vehicles please feel free to read this post and verify the info for accuracy.
How to determine what production number SS you have and the window sticker it came with.
Step one locate your VIN on your windshield.
Step two read your VIN in the following manner:
2G1FP22G6Y214100
A general motors 17 digit VIN can be broken down into three groups of numbers.
Digits 1,2, and 3 are the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) (USA, CAN)
Digits 4 to 9 represent the vehicle description section or VDS
Digits 10 to 17 represent the vehicle identifier section or VIS

FYI the VIN you posted comes up as "No Vehicle Found"
