My previous truck, 2000 Silverado 4.8L, had 315,000 when I sold it. It was all original other than an alternator, power steering lines, a wheel bearing, and a waterpump. It had about an encyclopedia of maintainence/oil change receipts too!
Current truck, 2002 1500HD 6.0L, has about 190000, and should have no problem making that too.

Nice, These things do seem to last forever when they are maintained properly.

315,000 on my 2000 Silverado 5.3. Two water pumps, two alternators - those are the only things changed on the motor. 10-40 High Mileage oil, doesn't burn much. I would say it's still going strong but it's actually sitting in my yard waiting for me to install my new trans. Which lasted 315,000 miles.

Truck gets 360 miles to 27 gal tank. 360,000 / 360 = 1,000. 1,000 X 27 = 27,000. Gas here is $2.34 so lets just go $2.00 for a 15 year average. 27,000 X 2 = 54,000
27,000 gallons burned
54,000 dollars

It makes sense. These things couldn't last hundreds of thousands of miles without burning a bunch of oil if the walls and rings weren't staying fairly intact. I think they lack low end torque in truck applications, but they certainly make decent HP and last for damn near ever if taken care of. GM nailed it with these things, thank G.
