Default 2018 ZR1 LT5 DOHC Rumors

So I just talked to a buddy of mine who is a GM Engine Tech at the local Dealer. We were talking about the new LT5 engine that GM is going to design, or should I say redesign (even tho it will be completely different from the original LT5), for the new ZR1.

He has "heard" that the new Vette which could be the ZR1 will come in at/under 3200 lbs, and the LT5 will produce 800+ Hp/750+ Tq. with a 8,500-9,000 RPM Redline. He also said GM wants to keep the Power/Weight ratio at or under 4 lbs per HP. I wonder if GM is waiting to release a lot of info until the new Demon has announced its numbers. The Challenger Demon will be around 4,250 lbs, 999 Hp, AWD, which is around 4.2 lbs per Hp. Which we will know in the next few months on the Demon.

Unfortunately he has not heard any "concrete" rumors of being a mid engine or AWD.

Anyone heard anything recently on this or have any thoughts?

Sad to see it go DOHC if so. Both cars do seem quite interesting none the less. The beauty of the LS lies in the simplicity and cost. DOHC building is almost always more expensive I find, more stuff to replace and more to go wrong..

I've also heard rumors of the Current Pushrod 6.2L being TT'd AND a larger displacement blower, as an option too. No one knows for sure, especially the techs at local dealers.
