Hey my brother is looking for a 3rd gen iroc-z but i dont really know much about the TPI cars, i was wondering if anyone on here could help me out and give me some info on them like the good and the bad and if there was a best year or what and common problems with them, any help would be appriciated. not sure if this is the right section for this thread or not but thanks in advance for any help.

Best 3rd gens, IMO, are the 89 350s. They will have the upgraded TH700 (87+ had them), most have the 9 bolt diff (last year for it) and have the better rear calipers (1st year for it). Also 1st year for twin cat option. I had an 89 Formula 350 WS6 with all of the above and it was a great car. Stupid me gave it to my nephew when I got the SS to replace it for daily driver duty. Dumbass.

The 305 TPIs are nice with a 5 speed, but I wouldn't own a 305 auto. They're ok, but not exactly zippy.

There is a thirdgen specific board, but lets just say there are some immature guys on there. Camaroz28.com has a 3rd gen section and that board is pretty laid back.

Ditto on the '89, I also believe it was the last year of 350 with t-tops, the t-tops were only available with 305s after that. Also , if someone tells you they have a factory 350/5 speed manual , you're getting BS'd . No such animal
