What year did GM vans start getting the LS1 style engine? How about the trucks? I really want to know about the vans though. Thanks.

2002 was the last year for the old style 5.7L in the full sized work vans (Chevy Express and GMC). Not sure which engine they got in 2003, but '02 was definitely the last year of the old 350ci.

the trucks received GEN III motors (that's what you meant to say) in '99, except if they were suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons, Escalades or HD trucks... then they got em in '00.
the vans were in '03 i beleive, but really i don't care too much about vans.

Make sure it's actually a 6.0, as they came with 5.3s and 4.8s as well. If it is a 6.0, it'll be an LQ4, 300 HP. Dished pistons, 317 casting heads. About 9.5 to 1 compression if I remember correctly. Good starting point for a turbo setup, but if you're planning on putting a lot of boost to it, better get forged rods and pistons.
