Default MSD wire Q

Hey whats up. I just replaced the 4 driver side spark plugs (TR6's, gaped to .035-.039) and wires (MSD's p/n 32819). Will finish the pass side tommorrow.

I rrrrrreally am not digging the MSD wires. The thick portion of the plug boot extends about an inch more then the stocks. The total length is the same as the stock wires. But that extra inch makes the wire want to pull away from the coil pack side. I started it and drove it for a mile. Ticking and SES light. So I am pretty sure that I have a loose boot (which I tried to push on again).

But even fully seating one side seems to make the wire want to pull of the other side. That extended thick boot seems to preload the wire. I can pull all of them of too easily.

Is this normal with MSD wires? Is it the heat shield?

Never had an issue with boots coming loose on MSD wires, it's what I have run on my current car and my last Trans Am. Why are you running such a small gap? You running higher than normal compression or something?

The car is supercharged (P1SC).

With that longer boot, it is just feeling like they are too short. If I am pushing in one side, it feels like the other side is pulling off...

Fixed. Removed the heat shields. Works so much better now. I read that other people did this with MSD wires, so hopefully no melting....

I suck at reading, didn't even notice that it says you have a P-1SC in your sig, lol.
