Replace Alternator
Hi All...
Just replaced my OEM alternator after 98k miles.
I was going to band aid it with a used one until I could afford a high output model, but ended up not wanting to take a chance.
So headed down to Autozone and just purchased a remanf. duralast unit. Comes with a lifetime warranty so it's all good, even if it does take a crap I can just pickup another.
For anyone who has never done an alternator swap its not really complicated, but just a little frustrating trying to wiggle it out, it snags on the rack PS lines and you have to work it until you find the right angle where it slips out.
All in all it took me 1hr.
Tools required are:
15mm socket - front 2 bolts
13mm socket - rear bolt, and power cable (needs a small swivel ratchet)
Medium pry bar - break it free after bolts are gone
D/C battery before beginning.
Pull the front 2 15mm bolts off, then the rear 13mm bolt. Pry it loose from the bracket, disconnect the wire harness and then the power cable. Wrestle it out from the bracket.
When re assembling start with the rear bolt because it's harder to align, then the top and the bottom one last.
Serpentine belt back on and you are done!
Check for any loose items and fire her up.

Well since, I usually stage with both fans on and wanted to add a few other items I thought it would come in handy, but I'm second guessing adding things like the electric cut out, accusump and or a sub.
The stocker will have to do, if I do add anything it will probably just be the accusump and thats a while down the line.
